There's been a few "reminders" of the hazards of earth movement. The C.E.R.T. training references the FEMA guidelines which should be reviewed on a regular basis.

remember, you will be on your own for at least 72 hrs, maybe more. The first item you will run out of is drinking water. Store at least 3 gall (3 days) per person, minimum. Remember to have supplies in your car and carry good walking shoes.

Be ready and be prepared

Great reminder NSA! Its been a bit shaky in our local areas this past few weeks. I am going to go ahead and swap out my backup food and water supply (its a couple years old) and re-check all of the other gear in the EQ kit.

Winter can leave now... Lets try to get above 50 degrees???

Several folks here on SCM were very active in BBVCERT in the 2010-2014 era, but then the momentum more or less came to a screeching halt. I attribute this to the turnover of the board as well as a shrinking active membership base. The local chapter also came out with fairly stringent training requirements to retain membership which for a full time working person is difficult to attain due to the number of hours required to get the certifications. It is unfortunate. We do have a couple folks that sit on the MMA (Mountain Mutual Aid) and COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) teams but that doesn't have the momentum that CERT once had.

Had to look up "Fetchez la cache" but it was well worth it to replay the scene. !

Here's an easy one: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

I just saw the NOAA forecasting that the El Niño advisory will continue through much of this spring and 60% chance through this summer. (and all this time I didn’t know this percip was linked to the water boy)

Being the most taxed (or second most, not sure) state in the union, I almost always vote no on spending. They already get enough money. Sacremento also gets around taxes by just raising or, inventing new fees. They will get you one way or the other, or both. Also, their tax bills are deceiving, the money does not go where they say it will.

As a retired career firefighter, always be aware that cities, counties, and states write and heavily advertise their spending bills carefully, often showing heroic first responders for a bill loaded with pork! Read the bill before you vote!

I don't have skin in the Sloaf station but I wold prefer the folks up there have a station. But our Cali politicians seem to care more about illegals vs. citizens and property owners. Remember that next time you vote.
