When I go to the SCM site I get messages saying site is unsafe. - certificate has expired or similar.

With a few extra clicks I can " proceed " but wonder if this is correct or can be fixed or eliminated ???

Hi Charles! Sorry for the late reply (some how I missed this thread). The SSL certificate for Socalmountains.com has expired. This is what makes encrypted https:// connections work. Browsers are getting much more vocal regarding SSL certificates due to the increasing amount of fraud related to online banking and other financial sites where encrypted connections are required in order to do business. The risk associated with a non SSL site is completely dependent on the type of data being exchanged between the website and the browser. In the case of a banking site, SSL is absolutely critical as otherwise your bank information could be stolen. In the case of this site, risk is limited as there is no real identity/financial data being exchanged.

So, back to the issue: I am currently working with my provider to renew/upgrade the SSL certificate. It should be back in order next week so that SSL can be utilized once again on SCM.

Thank you for the message!
-Craig

Hi Charles and everyone!

The SSL Certificate for Socalmountains.com has been updated and is now live. This means that if you use https:// instead of http:// then all traffic between your browser and the Socalmountains.com website is encrypted.

Thanks,
Craig

I must have missed the Evacuation Warning being in place. When was this implemented? Yes, I know it was lifted.

Thank you WX ALERT, that will help a lot of us sleep tonight. Those black lines show chances are the fire is not going into our camp and with the weather report, chances are good that we will have camp up and going soon again. Thank. you

Chances of that look real good at this time. We will transition from weak offshore flow to onshore flow and back again. Winds to remain relatively light and variable through next week. Temperatures will be on the rise over the weekend, but no strong winds are currently forecast.

It looks to me like the fire is stopped right now at Camp La Verne back driveway into camp and Jenks Road west.

What is the chance of no real west or north wind in the next week?

A friend just said they tried to come up the 330 and were turned around. Perhaps they were just escorting the people through that had been waiting, and reclosed the 330.

A better option may be to go across the Rim, and down through Crestline.
