RT @NWSSanDiego: Want to see how far smoke from the West Coast fires has gotten? Some of you know about the HRRR Smoke model, but not many know about the RAP Smoke model with its larger domain but lower resolution (13 km vs. 3 km for HRRR Smoke). Heres the smoke aloft: [Click Here] [Click Here]

thx SilentSky.

in regards to maps, I suppose spots are not shown, but maybe established spots dictate the placement of the fire line. the main thing: the line is still south of the 38. (Awesome!)

Has anyone heard what forest this individual was from?

Sep 18 : 08:43am
I'm not actually defending anyone. I'm just appalled that these things are allowed to be marketed and sold as a bit of "harmless fun". My true ire is for the fireworks stands at 40th and Waterman because technically they're legal in the city of SB but obviously aimed at travelers about to head up the mountain.

McToddy, InciWeb posted this fire perimeter map at about 7:13 am that shows a detail map of the Pinezanita and Hwy 38 area (NOTE: Maps represent approximate information.):

In addition to reckless endangerment laws, there is such a thing as reckless burning. Reckless burning is when someone recklessly starts a fire or causes an explosion which endangers human life.

God bless our firefighter heroes. Each of them risk EVERYTHING for us every day. May the fallen firefighter Rest In Peace and his family and friends be comforted in his bravery.

Fireworks are illegal in San Bernardino County and Yucaipa City. Why feel sorry for a family who knowingly broke the law and now killed someone.

I wonder if the packaging says "may cause fire. Use caution" ?

I had to google these "smoke bombs" and the packaging does have a "warning" but it sure seems lame. Only use it outside, don't hold it in your hand. It looks like you're just supposed to intuit that something they advertise as "safe" really isn't (in other ads I read "safe" was defined as nontoxic and won't stain your clothes). These things are cheap and sold at Walmart, Party City, and a million other places on Amazon. Yes, common sense should probably make you wonder if anything that needs to be lit with a barbecue lighter can truly be safe, but the warning itself seems entirely inadequate. They also make these that operate on air compression alone (no matches required). I wish they had opted for those. I bet they do too.
