BillyJean9 hour(s) ago While partially true, Nancy, the line that feeds power to the Big Bear Valley was experiencing 50-60 mph wind gusts, so there was an elevated fire risk in the high desert. Should any new fires become established, it could very well threaten the Big Bear Valley.
It was a proactive call, so SCE doesn't get blamed for starting another fire. Then of course everyone is sue happy, which in turn increases our rates again. Every time a community sues SCE, our rates go up. People don't understand they're suing themselves.
Just a new precautionary measure to try and protect lives & property. While it is very inconvenient, it's potentially better than the alternative.
Nancy~W10 hour(s) ago What concerns me is that SCE, who is not in our area and does not know whether we have WIND or NOT is controlling our electricity! Clearly a warning of what "socialism" is. We need to be independent of outside controlling entities here in Big Bear. Our weather is unique to CA. Who is the best to handle those decision? LOCALS ONLY, NO ONE ELSE.

Big Bear Lake, CA – Bear Valley Electric Service (BVES) is informing customers that Southern California Edison (SCE) has restored power from the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) that affected BVES supply lines. Electric service has now been fully restored to all Bear Valley Electric Service customers. Following the successful completion of system inspections, Southern California Edison PSPS warning period has concluded.
