Southern California Edison (SCE)- Potential
Public Safety Power Shutoff July 7, 2025
Big Bear Lake, CA – Bear Valley Electric Service (BVES) is notifying customers that Southern California Edison (SCE) has placed one of the BVES transmission lines on its Monitored Circuit List for a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). This is due to high winds and fire conditions forecasted in the region. The period of concern is today, July 7, from 3:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m.

A couple weeks ago i bought one of those supposedly "banned in californy" gas generators right at the bottom of the hill. It was spendier than i liked, but i got a good modern machine that plays nice with today's electronics, has the oomph to run the fridge, and runs for twelve hours on a gallon
of gas. A solar array can be next on the project list...

yes it includes solar panels and back up battery

I am assuming you meant solar panels and battery sstorage, as there is no such thing as a battery "generator". That is an outright deliberate misleading name many battery storage manufacturers have started calling battery storage systems, especially after california banned actual real electricity "generators" that produce electrical power through use of petro fuels.

solar panels and batteries. we have done this on several of our suburbans. We go with 6 volt deep cycle batteries, as we don't want to have the risk of spontaneous fire with lithium batteries Our Expedition Portal friends lost their new camping van to one of their lithium batteries spontaneously combusting. If you DO use lithium batteries for a home system,you need to place those batteries in a fireproof concrete bunker away from your home.

Has anyone tried a solar generator? If yes - results/brands?
