We get notices all the time for drone inspections with SCE. They use thermal imaging to find any areas of high resistance, lidar for line sag, and look for any other issues. We have fire prevention and increased service reliability to gain from these inspections.

BVES was doing the drone thing a couple years back on gilner point, identifying places where branches could touch the lines, followed by treemen clearing branches or sometimes whole trees. I had a dead tree right next to my house within reach of the supply line from the transformer, they took it down free of charge, you have to fill out a form online when they do it, but thats all, very easy...

Inspection tool. Cheaper than a helicopter or linesman I'm thinking. Sure, repairs will eventually end up on our bills but alternative????

The question is WHY is BVES using drones to capture images? What do they have to gain? Raise our rates again?
