San Gorgonio Wilderness Webcam
©ammy, Sun Jan 30 2011, 10:09PM

To go along with Ben's new San Gorgonio Wilderness Cam, I made up a labeled photo to help in identifying what you see on the cam. South is basically in the center of this photo, about 1/2 way between Charlton Peak & Shields Peak.

Boy Scout Peak is between Charlton and Shields. Ok, maybe not an "official" peak but there is a register.

I've always heard it called Alto Diablo. I've never heard of it as Boy Scout Peak.

You mean I signed the register on the wrong peak?

I guess it depends on who you are hiking with. Whatever it's called, it is a cool side trip on the way from Charlton to Shields.

Now I gotta hike up there & see for myself!
I'll wait till the snow melts.

It's up now on Ben's webpage [Click Here] - the link is just under the San G. Cam image.

Yesterday's timelapse was one of the best yet from this webcam! Racing clouds, sun rays, shadows, rain showers, and even a colorful sunset!

I love the new camra. and time lapse really shows how things can change quickly in the mountains.
Is it able to pan 360 if you wanted?

It's located inside a building, so you can only see pretty much in the field of view that Ben's shown - the San G view and the view further to the west that he sometimes puts it on.

Benny - Any way you can remotely make a timelapse from the cam for today? 2 reasons: A certain "mystery man" at 12:30pm and the marine layer increasing this evening.

Re: San Gorgonio Wilderness Webcam
Craig ⭐, Wed Feb 29 2012, 07:00PM

It can Pan a pretty decent area, however, it can really zoom. It can zoom into cars on highway 38 if so desired (and if that cloud is not in the way)

Cammy, My goal is to put this on an automatic timelapse with lets say 14 days of history so people can review for a while. Right now its a manual thing which Benny does when he has time.

Surely, if I get a sec in the mornin (Friday) I'll do it!

My webcam will be down for an undetermined amount of time due to service & repairs, along with the other new cam (bummer for next weeks storm!). My guess is maybe a week or two tops until they're back up!

No worries, guess I'll have to take the sky chair and see the mountain in person.

Makes me sad that people with a sight disability can't enjoy something like this.

Beautiful picture Benny.
