Baldwin672 hour(s) ago I got my generator a couple of days ago from Amazon. 3 day delivery. Now to find an electrician to hook it into my panel.
McToddy3 hour(s) ago ... off the power station (I was curious how it would fair if I had to work w/out power)
McToddy3 hour(s) ago just passing this along as FYI: a couple of months ago I purchased a generator to supplement the recharging of the battery for a travel trailer when off-grid. I ended up getting a Wen 4800 watt inverter generator. I initially shopped /priced what I wanted back in Feb ($580 at the time). When time came to actually purchase it in May, the tariffs were in effect (now $780-800). The interesting thing is that I could not order it from Home Depot or Lowes because they would not deliver to california. Saw a web ad from Walmart still at $580 and they could deliver to CA!!(Shipped from LV,NV) Anyways, just wanted to let peeps know that sourcing a generator may not be straight forward.
I also got a 1000W power station from DJI back in Dec (on sale for $380). I did a small test to : I found that I could charge the power station from 60% to 95% in about 20m ... not too scientific, but I was curious about charge turnaround. (This was after powering laptops and monitors for about 4h)
⚡WX ALERT⚡5 hour(s) ago Great idea boots, I already have a ton of solar lights outside, should just bring them in.
BootsNBridles9 hour(s) ago Hint: buy solar garden lights and solar lanterns. When a psps is expected put them outside to charge. Bring them in and light up your house. Super bright? No but better than a flashlight!
mcpootsntoots9 hour(s) ago Tibia... Thanks for the rec! Just shot them an email.
holeinbow9 hour(s) ago Yes, standalone. I have one but its loud and runs about 2 hours per tank, last outage i had to run the fridge or lose my food after twelve hours. a 2 hour run kept everything cold and the freezer frozen. I want something quieter thatll go for say six hours, then i need to set up a few cords for lighting. The kerosene collection gets new wicking and fresh fuel, and a few more led lights cant hurt...
tctahoe10 hour(s) ago Thanks HIB are those the stand alone type that only go for a few hours? I really should have paid better attention to the conversations you guys had. I’m guessing the ones that run a bit more are upwards of 5k. We’re on a well too so that’s a necessity.
holeinbow10 hour(s) ago Harbor freight shows 350 to 2200 bucks, quiet version 2000 watt is about 800
tctahoe10 hour(s) ago So what’s the approximate going rate for these generators?
Airport Razz12 hour(s) ago Reading the new word from SCE that we are all gonig to be needing generators if don't want to it in the dark for 36 hours or more. Question, I can't buy a gas weedwacker, what about all the gas generators and the new ones, electric??? So I guess we are left with propane, oh no, they want to get rid of that also. What to do, what to do???

Tibia w6ajo22 hour(s) ago mcpootsntoots... We use the Subi Shop in Oceanside. They do everything from normal maintenance to (almost) race prep.
Doggie Daddy24 hour(s) ago As we have recently experienced, SCE has revised their criteria for PSPS events. According to this SCE webpage, "CE has updated its deenergization criteria and wind-speed thresholds, which could result in longer, more extensive outages, including in areas that historically have not experienced PSPS."
