Big Bear Valley PSPS Update:
Power Restoration Progress & Community Conservation Needed
Bear Valley Electric Service has restored power to the majority of customers by utilizing its local generation resources and continues working to maintain electric service for as many customers as possible during the SCE Initiated Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).

Community conservation is critical at this time. While the PSPS remains in effect, all customers are strongly urged to reduce their electricity use by turning off unnecessary lights, delaying the use of major appliances, and minimizing overall power consumption whenever possible. Every kilowatt conserved helps extend the availability of BVES's limited local generation resources and increases our ability to keep more customers safely energized.

what makes it worse is that if they de-energize, even by mistake, prptocola say visial walking all lomes have to ne done before they can reenergize,any hours of work, so they don't even bother, it there is a chance thIGHT have to deemergize again sometime soon....... so they are not pit overtime to the line checkers. F'ing 50,000 pepple to save a few dollars

Edison still hasn't gotten the message that Accuracy Matters! It matters to thousands of people who rely on advanced notification. With all of their recent modernization (paid for by customers), Edison's inaccuracy is inexcusible. They've had a few years to "work out the bugs" and set up precise technology, to determine when they'll start the initial PSPS de-energization -- nobody should be making anymore excuses for them.

what parts of big bear are out now? our friends in baldwin lake say they are off

When the power went off early this morning, winds in Big Bear were calm and in Apple, Victorville and Lucerne Valley they were 10 MPH.....and they turned off our power why??????

is sce line energized now, or are we operating off of the generators at bves yard?

Winds have been gusting over 40 mph in the high desert, with isolated gusts over 50 mph. This is where our supply/power line comes from. And that is the area of concern.

I think most of us here understand the PSPS rationale. But what's NOT okay is Edison's extremely inaccurate estimates. By now, they should have this down - as a courtesy and also as an additional public safety matter.

I'm letting my rental owners know about the potential psps so their guests dont come up completely unprepared...

SCM, aware that not neccessarily weather in big bear but it would be nice to be weather somewhere in southern cal. weather reports did not justify a shut down.

BVES seems to be forgetting that there are thousands of tourists about to come up for the weekend who don't have any regard for power conservation. 🤪

This PSPS is due to conditions on the SCE feed to Big Bear. Not conditions in Big Bear.
